This fly-in safari includes a night in Nairobi and then a 4 night stay at Elephant Watch Camp, tailored to focus on elephants and their conservation. Elephant Watch Camp is run by Saba Douglas-Hamilton and her family with Samburu guides trained to recognize the elephants in the reserve. The emphasis is on watching the local elephants, getting up close and learning all about the conservation work done by charity Save the Elephants.
You can extend this short safari with a safari in the Masai Mara, Mount Kenya and Amboseli National parks optional though.

 


Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive Nairobi – Wildrace Africa Flight Safaris

On arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport collect your luggage and clear customs. Our representative will meet you in the Public International Arrivals Halls, and will transfer you to your hotel. Check-in on arrival and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Eka Hotel  located along the Nairobi National Park.

DAY 2-6: Samburu National Park adventures – Wildrace Africa Kenya Safari Northern Frontier

Arrive in Nairobi. You will be met and transferred to Wilson airport for your short flight north to Samburu. On arrival at the airstrip you are met by the Elephant Watch team and will be able to enjoy a game drive en route to the camp arriving in time for lunch by the river. Daily game drives are included within your 3 night stay, as well as the opportunity to visit the Save the Elephants conservation centre which is close by - see how the team work and learn more about these beautiful animals. Many of the team members have known the elephants for years and have a close relationship with them allowing for some very special encounters. Saba's husband Frank is the Chief Operations Officer for the charity. Dinner and overnight at Elephant Watch Camp located right at the center of the Mighty National park and game reserves.

DAY 7: Nairobi – End of Wildrace Africa Samaburu Elephant Conservation Tours

Today you will be will transferred to the Samburu airstrip for your flight to Nairobi Wilson airport. We will transfer you to Hemingways Nairobi Hotel where you will arrive in time for lunch, a day room will also be waiting for you. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. At a pre-arranged time, our representative will meet you and will transfer you to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where you will enjoy a Foster Parent Visit. Following your visit, you will be transferred to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you will arrive in time to check-in for your onward flight.
