Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale National Park

Have breakfast and then drive to Kibale. The northern route is shorter and faster and has a distance of about 300km with a tarmac road going to Fort Portal and also a distance of 36km on murram to Kanyanchu. On arrival you may visit the Crater Lake around. Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest guest house or Kyaninga lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking

After breakfast you will go for Chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda.

This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees. After trekking, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth national park, arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Enganzi game lodge or Mweya Safari lodge.

Day 3: game drive and launch cruise

Breakfast will be served early and go for a morning game drive followed by lunch and in the afternoon, go for a launch cruise along the kazinga channel where you may spot various water birds and animals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi

Following breakfast, you will check out and embark the vehicle and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park with a leisurely drive through the Ishasha sector hoping to catch sight of the tree climbing lions that reside there. You will have lunch en-route and proceed to Bwindi arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Buhoma Haven Lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking

Wake up to an early morning breakfast and depart the lodge with packed lunch and drinking water. Report to the headquarters for briefing and head into the forest for gorilla trekking. The activity could take 4-8 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. During the trek, you may spot other primates and different bird species which are good for kin bird watchers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kampala

Have breakfast at leisure and depart Bwindi making your way back to Kampala with stopovers for lunch in Mbarara and at the equator for photos and the experiment. Proceed to Kampala arriving late afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your onward flight marking the end of your 6 Days Uganda Safari.
