Overview

Game Viewing: In the southern part of the park, you are guaranteed to see most of the Kenyan animals found in Samburu, namely: cheetahs, lions, leopards, impalas, buffalo, hippos, and dik-diks, as well as the native gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa Oryx. You are guaranteed to see most animals during the dry season as they converge at the Usaso Nyiro River, their main source of water during the long dry weather. Elephants are also spotted during this time, and you can watch the Nile crocodiles swim in the river.

 


Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve North of Equator Line

You will be picked up from Nairobi Airport or Nairobi Hotel in the morning at 06:30 hours and depart for Samburu National Reserve via Mt. Kenya and the Equator. You will begin a game drive en-route to the lodge. Check in and have lunch upon arrival. Later in the afternoon, go for a game drive across the park and look out for the unique resident wildlife species like the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx. and the Blue legged Somali Ostrich. The game drive will last until sunset when you will return to Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight. On the southern part of Samburu Game Reserve, you are guaranteed to see most of the Kenyan animals found in Samburu.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park

Early in the morning, go for a sunrise game viewing in search of wildlife that wanders in this park in the morning hours before the sun is hot. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast. After, you will leave Sumburu and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park and have lunch at the base of Mount Kenya. After lunch, the journey will continue through Nyahururu Waterfall to Lake Nakuru National Park. Since your accommodation is located inside the park we will have an evening game drive until 18:30 when the park closes. Lake Nakuru National Park is well known for its great masses of flamingos, the famous white and black rhino, and the endangered Roth's child giraffe species with five horns. Dinner and overnight will be at Lake Nakuru Wck camp. Prior arrangement is very much crucial with this accommodation.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara Game Reserve

We will begin the day again with a morning game viewing in this park until lunch time. We will depart soon after lunch and drive safely along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara Game Reserve which forms the northern part of Serengeti National Park in good time. If time allows, we will have an evening game viewing upon arrival. Otherwise we recommend relaxation at the camp after the long drive. Maasai Mara Game Reserve is famous for its lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, and other members of the big five. Dinner and overnight will be at Destiny Eco Camp Mara.

Day 4: Maasai Mara Game Reserve

We recommend an early breakfast at the camp and heading out at 06:30 for a full day of game viewing until late in the evening. We will return to the camp for refreshment and overnight stay at the camp. Masai Mara is famous for its large number of lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo that make up the "big five". Luck is essential for spotting the rhino and leopard which are rather shy and elusive. The park’s animal concentration and abundance is second to none. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool where you might be lucky enough to spot crocodiles basking on the rocks. Numerous plains game that live in this park include antelope, wildebeest, zebra, Masai giraffe, hyena, and vulture. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Early in the morning we will go out for game viewing in Maasai Game Reserve. After we will set off for a journey back to Nairobi where the safari will end in the late evening. Then we will transfer you back to the hotel in good time.
